He's running with her and they race
to his house.
He beats her there.
She reaches out for him and he goes
to her, wanting to hold her against him.
He can't believe his luck.
He found his mate.
They spend all day together.
They run to the river as wolves
then swim as humans.
He hunts and finds her food.
He enjoys spending his time her
and when the sun sets, he doesn't
want her to leave.
But he knows her parents will come
looking for her if she isn't home soon.
They take their time to get to her house.
All a sudden he smells gun powder.
He jumps in front of her as another
bullet flies over their heads.
She howles at her brother and the
shooting stops.
He rubs his muzzle over her, checking
her for bullents.
He is happy she wasn't injured.
She looks at him nudges him with her nose.
She starts to walk out of the woods
and into her backyard when he runs to her
and licks her.
She smiles at him and licks him back.
He goes back to the woods and watches as
she enters her house and watches for her
bedroom lights to turn on.
He runs back to his house thinking about
the day and how he wishes she could be
here day and night.
He wakes up in a chilling sweat.
He found her, he found his mate.
But he found her in his dreams.
He tries to go back to sleep, but he can't
so he goes outside and howles at the moon
hoping that she will hear him and know who
is calling for her.
