two poems

like love, but less mess

I am double-talked
stuttering
& nothing says I love you better
than silence.

We contradict the classics,
tie our tongues
in attempts to articulate
that which swirls us-
whirlpools & minutes long kisses

spinning in circles
while woven in stationary positions

we dive
scuba gear regalia & only surface
to praise the heavens

for moments like these.

.................................................

half moons

He asked her name,
her dreams,
noticed how her hair
created half moons with the shadow

laughed in the soft
of thoughts
only his own,
called her
the disappearing poet

and made love to her words.

"nothing says I love you better
    than silence."

a sad state of affairs that is all too common.
i blame it on the abundance of opportunity today's society offers.
    or education.
    or cars.
or anything that might explain why we just can't seem to keep our shit together.

you are such a good writer, Meli.

    but i've said that before...
