one smile
one hand
my world
my land
i'm not waiting for the world to change
it's not much
i can't contend
but no way
i can pretend
that i'm waiting for the world to change
cause there's a broken heart
and i'm going to do my part
even if i've got nothing to give
an open of the eyes
scrapes away disguise
and we don't get a chance to relive
a kind word
a hot meal
a warm look
that's real
not waiting for the world to change
can't save
a whole world
but in my own
back yard
i'm not waiting for the world to change
cause there's a broken heart
and i'm going to do my part
even if i've nothing to give
and opening the eyes
scrapes away disguise
and we do't get a chance to relive
give all of what you got
even though you thought
you wouldn't make a dent or succeed
share a sandwich or a smile
don't turn in denial
maybe someone else will follow your lead
one smile
one hand
my world
my land
i'm not waiting for the world to change
one hand
my world
my land
i'm not waiting for the world to change
it's not much
i can't contend
but no way
i can pretend
that i'm waiting for the world to change

Author notes
Someone sad? Cheer them up. Got a sandwich? Share it with someone who needs it. Know someone abused? Drive them to the shelter. Got a friend with drug problems? Go to a recovery meeting with them so they don't have to walk in alone.
Do what you can, anytime you can for those put in your path. Maybe the trend will catch on. You never know.

Overflowing Compassion!
This song is so very inspiring and it has such a strong and powerful message: give what you can when you can because regrets can claim tomorrow.
I wish you the best in your pursuits...and I hope you never stop writing; giving voice to positivity is something that can change the world. Blue

Sounds like life's path here, adn I'm sure any one of us can recall some of this subtle thoughts, I would say these are. In a dreamlike fashion, subconcious I would say, are many which we could all reminisce overand I being one of them applaud you for this lovely piece of writing.

There is so much we can do, yet we do nothing, I am glad you have the same ideas as I do, well done on this great piece
Thankyou for taking the time to enter this contest, I wish you all the best of luck

Thanks for the inspiration. Not my best "poem" but the contest inspired me to lay down some lyrics that have been floating random in my head. Now I have to work on the music

So often we get so overwhelmed by the big picture that we forget that those little things that we CAN do count for a lot.
Again, thank you for creating the spark that brought it together
