There is no such thing as "too much"

Like an old journal ,

packed with memories of old

and hopes of new ;

treasures to hold on to,

[delicate silks wrapped in acid free paper]

they say that will preserve them;

for who knows, what is old will become new again,

waste not-want not, so I shove it into a tiny space;

room is becoming sparse now,

but order is not all that important;

all I need to know is that I am well prepared

for any occasion that might arise.

A woman can never have too many dresses or shoes,

especially if she lives in a place

where there are seasons of four.

Just one word of advice

-wear a hardhat when opening the door-

    The rhyming is amazing and I love the twist at the end. One thing I picked up on however was that in line 5 you've used a { and then a ]

    The reference to the hardhat, for me at least, is not only saying about the opening of the physical door but also the metaphorical door leading to our emotions. Brilliant write, truly amazing.

    Bandaid.

      thanks Pap much appreciated . Do you know that your "nom de plume" is my favorite font. Unfortunately this site does not offer it and it is a pain to write it out in Word , then paste and copy and space correctly as a poem here [but just thought you might enjoy this bit of silly trivia]

    lol A hard hat indeed! Oh, how I long to live in a place once again that has four seasons. I miss that. I just love this, Reenie. A wonderfully witty poem. Hugs, Patricia

      Patricia , dearheart....it is a pleasure to see your name Thanks . Re four seasons though. I do believe we no longer have them either.....we have HOTTTTTTTT summer and sem to go right into COOOOOOOOOOOld winter as of late. Things her still the same. I do believe I might be in Texas for a week or two next month.The Witch is turnining even more into a B...., and I have to take all the blame I placed on Tom there for awhile away again. I believe he really is at the point of absolutely no longer caring [can not blame him]. He is so glad that I finally understand and see....so it is just a matter now of riding the bumps out with as little dammage as possible,
      love ya

    A very cute and amusing write, and yes, I am well aware of women's love of shoes and such and the fact that too much is really 'too little'.

    For men though, at least for me, there can well be too much, I would hate to have everthing I sought, especially on an emotional basis, as a man cannot be such, without something/one to long for. Take away the longings, take away the man.

      Glad you understand that shoe thingey. Truthfully though , the write does exagerate just a bit . My closet is jam-packed, but most things are just there to be there I guess....{I have my few favs ] and that is usually what I wear. It is a gypsy/hippie/renaissance combination I guess. Or for that special occasion black and or white seem to always do

    Aww this is wonderful! I love all the emotions you have managed to express in this, especially the humour at the end I can really relate to that!
    Also there are so many things that are coming back in fashion these days, it's a good excuse not to have the big Spring clean out! and keep our memories more tangible!
    Loved reading thisSuch wonderful imagery you used.
    All the best

      thanks sweetie. It really is unbelievable what all resides in my closet lol.......I know there are still some outfits in there that I brought with me as a newly wed and pregnant 18 year old in this country and some of my friends teens go nuts if I mention that I am "going to go through my closet". Instead of it going into the garbage , they walk out with bagfuls of stuff with which they concoct all sorts of fashion styles of their own. Indeed....it all does come back again
      love ya and miss reading [but you know that time thingey];(
