I Shot the Moon

I shot the moon last night
And laughed as the wretch
Screamed!

bullet hole,
A third eye glaring at me
From her sickly brow.

I watched as sticky moon blood
Congealed and dripped down
The line of her temple.

The blood fell in hot pregnant drops,
Spattering the great
Oceans with narcotic tar
Of magenta, silver
And deep dark indigo

Gluttonous fish drank of the thick nectar
And their gills flooded with
Sleep and sweetness
They smiled and blinked
Lethargically as their hearts
Slowed

Bloated bodies rose like
Brightly colored balloons

I shot the moon last night

Ships caught and sunk in her blood
Entire cities
Were candied by her tears

But I sat on the mountain top
Gun in hand, twinkle in eye
And my laugher rang out through the night.

It is definitely full of imagery and unique creativity. Not exactly the journey I was looking for but hey, it was worth the read. Thanks for entering
