I sat next to my mother
a book was in her hand
and thought I could write another
and make up my own distant land
Once I did learn to write
wrote my words on paper
then I did write by faded light
a finished story came later
My face had a smile
One day it had begun
I had my first writing trial
And went outside, a song now sung
I sat next to my mother
a book was in her hand
and thought I could write another
and make up my own distant land
I kept on using ink
because I loved to write
I had power to make ship sink
soon my words became a great Sight
I entered a contest
and wrote my best yet
but the mail told me different
and boy was I so darn upset
sat next to my mother
a book was in her hand
and thought I could write another
and make up my own distant land
But I kept on writing
and as you now do see
I am oh a writing wizard
write every day at half past three
I sat next to my mother
a book was in her hand
and thought I could write another
and make up my own distant land
