Think of the poppy

Think of the poppy
Remember the soldier
Think o’ the tales
Yer grandmother told yer

O’ yer grapie so bold
To fight against sin
But she didn’t let slip
The terror he were in

Yes, I have to agree with our host that the rhyme is a bit off in places. But poppies are always appealing and one of my best-loved poems is In Flanders Fields
    by John McRea...

Well done on winning the bronze.

Great statement, great use of dialect, etc, etc.

The only thing sounding off to me is the last line; " The terror he were in"

I'm thinking maybe "The terror within," leaving it a bit open to interpretation and with a 'lil smoother a flow.

    Great write.

Loved that last two lines. They make a bold statement. Excellant job!

    Very Nice

    Firstly very well chosen picture.
But the poem itself is wonderful, first sanza very 'normal' in a sense of the theme, but then the second hits hard with the stark truth of the memories being told.

    Great write

Wow this is a very beautiful poem. I feel that you express the naive beauty of life or almost, "Ignorance is bliss." Also that is a very cool picture.
