One day, you appeared like a lost puppy.
slowly, you hobbled down the walk.
I felt like a long haired Yuppy,
but still to you, I tried to talk.
You were a man of few words to say,
mostly, just Hi and bye.
I did not see you every day,
but when I did, a conversation, I did try.
Late one day, you to me did call.
Your need was great and I did answer fast.
I swiftly walked down the hall,
and there did find you at last.
The years have passed since that day
I did what I could to make you play
by your side often I did stay
at your bedside just as oft I did pray.
We had lunch and often even dinner,
you didn't eat much, but that was you.
when I cooked you called it a winner,
because it was real food, and not canned stew.
Then you got sick, I began to worry,
you lost both legs in the spring.
You wanted to go, but I said what's the hurry,
yesterday, for you, the bell did ring.
My friend I will miss you so,
I know you were ready and it is best.
I was not ready for you to go,
and tomorrow I will lay you to rest.

it is what it is
Marvin was the one paying forward
He helped me to become a better person
for that I am thankful
and hope I can pay it forward to someone else
