Willow tree,
My sister,
Her dancing vines,
Like brown silk
Swaying in the breeze.
Sweet essence
Calming and gentle,
Poetic beauty.
Her leaves like
Emeralds do shine.
Sister willow
Of the pond,
Speak to me,
May your vines
Inspire.
My dear Sister,
Tell me your
Deepest secrets,
And I will weep
With you.
Dip your branches
In sweet water
Of the pond,
Drink from it's
Eternal chalice.
Sing to me
The song
Of leaves swaying
Within the breeze,
Sister willow sing.
Willow tree
Sit with me,
Be with me,
Love with me,
Sing with me.
Sister willow
Show your beauty,
Dance and swing,
Sway and flow,
Let the wind guide you.
My dearest sister
Show me your wisdom,
Help me see the truth,
Sister willow,
I place my trust in you.

Judging of the Contest, Nature Heals. The entries were all so beautiful. The gold trophy was easy to judge. “Tree of Love” for option number 2. The rest weren’t quite so clear cut. I awarded a trophy for each best entry per option, and then honorable mentions for the other two. I must admit, I have a real soft spot for mothers and grandmothers. And these were the two that won the silver and the bronze. “Precious Radiant Gem” won the silver for option number 3. After reading this poem, it was one that stayed with me to the end; the endearing love of a mother represented by a gem always worn about the poet’s neck. “Beautiful Ray of Perfection” won the bronze for option number 1. I was extremely moved by this eloquent and loving tribute to the poet’s grandmother. These were both new poems that were written specifically for this contest. If there were more trophies to give out, many more would have won. I gave “The Laughing Brook” an honorable mention for option #4. “The Touch of a Friend” won an honorable mention for option #5. There were 22 more honorable mentions; and here is the list. All lovely and worthy of this and more. I cannot tell you how grateful I am for all of your entries, especially the ones that wrote especially for this contest. A special thanks goes To the other judges, Theresa and Nikki, whose help was invaluable. We were unanimous about the gold trophy. If you have time, I highly recommend that You read “Tree of Love” . It is one of the most beauteous poems that I have read in a long time. All of the contest entries were commented on at least once by me and the other judges. I enjoyed reading them all and felt extremely enriched by it. I liked it. Very dreamy and I have always loved the Willow tree also. Very nice imagery here. I felt the comfort, healing and companionship that you receive from your sister Willow tree. Thank you for sharing this lovely poem and entering it in the contest. Good luck.

I truly think this is a great addition to the contest. It really shows and describes a beauty of nature, and in doing so also describes the healing one may feel from true nature. I think is is a good reply to the concept of the contest. I wish you the best of luck in the contest. Hugs~Nikki

Very sweet, I like the sing-song way this unfolds within my mind as I read. Words that can be easily envisioned but also that convey a sense of wonder.
Blue -
Speaks of a communing with nature...
a trust in the divine spirit of all
earth's living things. Soft flow
of words captures the tone well.

This poem is really serene and gentle, and really creates a sense of intimate kinship with the graceful, weeping willow on a spiritual level that gives this poem a and mystical and magical quality. Best of luck in our contest, and thank for entering this wonderful piece.
