In my arms, ten years ago,
I held your heart, I couldn't let go.
You lay there, so innocent, childlike and pure.
Leaving behind a hollow space, to be filled no more.
I tried so hard to bring you back, shake you awake,
Choking in my salty tears, for your sake.
Because we were big boys, we were strong
And I couldn't break the pact, that would have been wrong.
There I sat, soaking in the dark space
In your dull, staring eyes, the life of a an angel I could trace.
You left me memories, a legacy behind,
Staying forever and always in my mind.
And though a decade has passed since that fateful day,
You will always be here, safe in my memories, come what may.
