And our hearts will stop
From the planes they’ll drop
The bombs will still fall
And our politicians will
Get away with it all
No questions are asked
In return, no care is given
Ignore the poor, and
Steal from the hungry
Through it all we close our eyes
Stan and his man, Jerry
Are still unable to marry
That’s just the start
Of our mountain of worry
Yet through it all, we close our eyes
Corruption crosses the Earth
And the youth is infiltrated
We’re beaten at home
So we take to the streets
Through it all we close our eyes
Not to mention, the
Pollution of the globe
Soon we’ll all be submerged
And through it all, we close our eyes
Our children are the addicts of tomorrow
Yet tomorrow is rapidly approaching
And they are still using
Passing out, over dosing, breaking the barriers
That the world has forced upon them
But through it all, we close our eyes
And as the days progress
They get more and more depressed
Till their drugs are no longer working
So they slit a wrist, or tie a noose
Because through it all, we’ve closed our eyes
And the only world that is safe
Is the one created in our minds
So through this all, we can
Close our eyes… and
fall
fall
fall
into that world…
And just... escape
Please tell me what you think

Wow this is very powerful and also very true, the world today is falling apart and it is very scary to think about what our children are going to be exposed to in the future, And the lines "we close are eyes" I agree with we all close our eyes and turn our backs to what is going wrong with the world. you have basically covered everything going wrong today (Terrorism, gay marriage, drug abuse, suicide, and kids living on the streets because of bad home lives. this is probally the best poem i have read in a long time because it is so correct, everyone just needs to take the time to look around and actually give a damn about what is going on. I applaud you on this poem. Great job!
