can you hear the agony
  of another broken heart?
what are you doing to
  give them a new start?
you criticize
    immobilize
    demoralize
    conventionalize
can't you recognize that
you're only using your eyes
see with your heart
see with your soul
open up and console
welcome all those who grieve
who can not achieve
even all the naive
welcome those who hurt
and dwell in their sorrow
show them the light
show them its alright
give them some delight
help them win the fight
against starvation
      temptation
      execution
      pollution
      mass murder
and d i s e a s e
there's a war being waged
on the truth bearers
      of our time
against the musicians
who sing whats in their heart
everything on their mind
and what I always find
is we need to stop and rewind
we've become so blind
to what was once kind
      laughter
      love
      happiness
      caring
was all that lost
in the world today?
ruled by
close minded
self righteous
factitious
propaganda filled
air headed
fascist
bigots
slandered for our thoughts
vilified for individuality
traduced for personal style
when its all just expression
pride in youth
    in culture
    in spontaneity
    in ourselves
don't be a tourniquet
cutting off America's life blood
what keeps us going
will soon be forgotten
if things don't start
        to change
