Before us lies a vast open space
Take my hand and we'll embrace
The challenge to cross together
No matter the obstacles we face
I've been there, briefly, years ago
So do not fear, it's a path I know
All too well for I was just a man
In love too much, I have scars to show
But with our mating and dedicating
We'll cross this openness negating
Any attempt to prevent our reaching
Love's destined place most intriguing
For out there, dear, it is so clear
There is a world that allows no fear
The masks are gone from all the faces
Hearts hold hands and gather near
Souls are singing love's sweet tunes
Music that comes straight from moons
That's why couples gaze upon them so
That's where flowers start their bloom
This small first step we take together
The storms and tumults we can weather
So trust in our love's guiding light
For it shines bright on our forever
Author notes
the trip is worth the pain if you get there

This had me smiling. I love the overall flow and imagery as well as the 'take the chance, never give up' attitude. It is well worth it. Thank you for sharing this and best of luck in the contest

Thank you
I looked at the last line and was not happy with it, so I made a change in it. Do you think it helped?

I like it both ways but the ending does read better
