Wildflowers with a single butterfly

Why have you left me
When I was at a fairly young age?
I'm not sad
Though I should be.
I never really thought about you as much
I hope you can forgive me.

I really do miss you
You know.
I know that over the years
I have forgotten you
And on seldom occasions I have thought of you.

The food that you make
And for just being there I remember
But only for a moment or two.
Every now and then I pull out something
That you have given me
And then I remember.

Even though you have left this world
You haven't left my heart.
And all the things you have done for me
But I haven't returned the favor.

So this writing that I have done now
This is for you.
You might not be able to read by sight
But I know you can by faith.

Over all, what I'm trying to say is that
I miss you
Even if I haven't thought of you
As much as I should be.
