The Duck named Sam.

There once was a duck named Sam,
Poor Sam had a platypus beak.

The other ducks all teased Poor Sam,
One day Sam left to go and find his way.

Sam traveled many oceans,
He traveled many mountains.

But Poor Sam was teased wherever he went,
Poor Sam was teased by every duck he passed.

Poor Sam was teased on the coast,
Poor Sam was teased on the boat.

Poor Sam was even teased by the moat,
But finally Poor Sam met an old duck.

The old duck showed Poor Sam a trick or two,
He told Sam whenever he felt lonely and afraid.

He should just remember that no matter the day,
He would always be himself and that was enough for anyone to be.

So Sam decided to go and head back home,
Where Sam was greeted by a laugh or three.

But Sam said with a mighty roar,
"I am not afraid to be me, for that in itself is just fine to me."

The other ducks continued to laugh, until one day Sam could help,
A larger duck had come and taken over the pond.

He never messed with Sam you see, for Sam had a larger beak,
And so they begged for Sam to help, to which he said,

"You never wanted my help before, but why now do you ask?"
"We are afraid of him, and we want to swim," they replied.

He decided to help them for perhaps they would be his friends,
And so he helped but to his dismay, they refused to be his friends once more.

Poor Sam was once again alone and afraid, the advice he remembered,
He would always be himself and that was enough for anyone to be.

Sam may have been told he was not cool, Sam may have been shunned by all,
But Sam was Sam and that was enough for Sam. Sam played whenever he wished.

Sam played in the moat, Sam played in the pond; Sam even played in the boat.
Sam played where he wished; Sam was himself, and that was enough for Sam.

I loved the moral it told everyone. That you should be yourself no matter what. It's something that can never be talked about to much. You used great imagery and an interesting scheme. Kudos.

Aww cute poem!! Its like a modern day fable, and ducks rock so that was definately an added bonus! It reminds me of the ugly ducking only in poetry form. This had a weird rhyme scheme, though I'm not sure if it was intentional, but it added flow really nicely! Really sweet write, good job!!!
