A cold winter night,
The snow was glistening.
Not a sound to be heard.
So beautiful,
So peaceful...
A cool breeze blew,
As I walked along.
Not going anywhere,
Just walking around.
I paused for a second,
It started to snow.
Adding thickness to the blanket
That covered the Earth.
The sky was getting lighter,
And birds started to sing,
So I continued to walk,
This time back home.
Such a beautiful night,
Now coming to an end.
As I draw near my house,
I take one last look.
What once was empty,
Now filled with people.
But I will never forget
That one quiet night,
When all was perfect.

Your descriptions are nice & serene, but I feel they could have been more powerful
For example instead of saying something fairly simple like "The sky was getting lighter", you could try using metaphor and other poetic devices.
This piece looks quite structured, and I feel it would read more smoothly if the lines were groups in threes rather than quatrains.
You are right about winter though; it is very beautiful, but it doesn't even snow here.
Thanks for entering.

WINTER is my fave season. Me living in India in Bombay city. Where there is hardly any winter time. So just imagine how I fantasy about WINTER. I love snow and the chill air. Thanks for sharing this work on Winter with all of us.
All the best in the contest.
Take care;
