Wrapped up in paper and a bow

i gave you my heart
all wrapped up tight
with an easy open bow
and metallic colored paper

you opened it and smiled
that beautiful smile reserved just for me
and held me close
as we shared an everlasting kiss

but happiness never lasts too long
just as the bow became tattered,
and the papers started to fade,
the kiss ended.
