When Shadows Call

Missing image
I dare not close my eyes too tight,
hopes, dreams adrift in flight.
In darkness all alone am I,
farewell to love, goodbye.

Cobwebs hanging from end to end,
what lies beyond the bend?
A summer breeze to sweep them free,
will sorrow bury me?

Deafening silence fills my ears,
overshadowed with fears.
No thoughts of love nor to speak,
it is relief I seek.

To stop these eyes that daily weep,
painful thoughts, shadows creep.
What once was light, now darkness dwells,
mid demons casting spells.

We hurt most when loved ones leave.
seek solace as we grieve.
Strike of midnight too much to bear.
grief stricken laden here

Death would be sweeter, free from pain,
but on earth I shall remain.
Till God looks down on me with pity,
takes me to His Golden City.

    Definately worthy!

This was absolutely a beautifully penned piece. Wonderful show of emotion. I could feel your pain and sorrow, your sadness. This was worthy of the gold poet, and deserving of recognition.
Thanks for sharing, may have many more blessed days.

    Thats life !

Oh yes- but to know no pain is not to know the value of love. You express so well how I have felt a few times, sometimes the hertbreak of love stinks

    lovely!

this was amazing , i have a lot of demons to fight off, some more ... real than others if that makes sense. but this poem reminded of them, especially the first stanza. this seemed to be a bit darker tham most of your poetry, but its very nice to see a different side of you. i enjoyed reading it very much! the flow was nice and sready, a beautiful writing. thank you for sharing this with us aunt sandy. take care, hope to talk to you soon. god bless.

Sandy, my dear Sis and friend. I know where this one came from, and to be honest, when you chose the number, the prompt word sort of made me wonder should I change it. But, I didn't, and I'm glad I refrained. You have produced an excellent piece here, full of a different style I haven't seen. the lineage sort of threw me off at first, but then I got the swing of it, and read it again. it is without dubt, a top class write, and will bring many wonderous feelings to all who read it.
    Thank you Sandy.
you have a heart filled with pure love.

    thank you for entering.

I think, your work is absolutely great and interesting. I like when people take part in the contests and have to write something particularly special, at the same time without loosing the sense, feelings, thoughts and words. I like when they combine everything in a whole piece.

In my opinion, your title is fantastic. It easily catch one's eyes and it is 'opened' by the poem itself. I think, this is the main point, and you are absolutely great!

Interesting picture that adds some effects to your work.

    Very interesting!
