Summer hides behind
the shadow of tears
falling in July's liquid song.
Yet tiny smiles
warm my soul
and lift me far above
clouded verse.
Inside these walls
rainbows form;
puppet strings
and dominoes
beckon for their time.
Moments shared
on afternoons
shuffling colours
in books that delight
painted footprints
and beads to design
left hanging above the grey.
I won't let
the rain leave muddy disappointment
in this playground...
