Charging through the rain forest
Unable to fly away
Red-ridged helmet protecting
As it runs astray
Pale green-blue eggs in a clutch
Numbering from three to eight
The female lays the large eggs
While the male warms them in wait
Author notes
The bird I wrote about is the cassowary. They live in Australia and are the second largest bird after the ostrich. Like the ostrich, they cannot fly. They are also the world's most dangerous bird currently. Enjoy!

Good, so far as it went. Personally I would have tried to work your author notes into the poem or incorporated the bird into a less definition only poem.
Thank you for taking the time to enter. Good luck.
