Retirement

Retirement brings a preponderance of possibilities
to try new things and to test your abilities
or you can explore your employability
if you get bored with the domestic facility!

Although it is in the realm of feasibility
to watch History on TV without hostility
your wife is used to more tranquility...
and with that there is little to no flexibility.

It's a time in your life for more sociability
to see new places, so try mobility.
Buy a home in the mountains for versatility
and you'll be overcome by her docility...
Oh, the preponderance of possibilities!

Author notes

I had a difficult time adjusting to my husband's retirement...suddenly we were together 24/7 and the TV was on day and night! My territory had been invaded and so this poem was the result of those early feelings.

This piece is truly rich! You made me laugh out loud as I read! Excellant pen! After I read your notes I laughed even more. My husband travels 3 to 4 days a week and I joke all the time and say if he were home all the time I'd probably go a little crazy!

Huh!? You makes me to scratch my head, lol... Very serious theme presented in your special funny way. Reality within your words are very sensitive and as you said life offers you the preponderance of possibilities. One of them is to write this kind of poetry. Nice work.

You've certainly given me a heads up for when I get older!
Your rhyming scheme, choice of words, and imagery are amazing.

    Well penned, my friend.
