Rain

Long-longed-for rain falls in my sleep,
purling its calming song through my dreams,
washing the filth away from the leaves…
No thunderstorms announce its arrival.
Herbs and grasses drink from rivulets of life,
withering flowers lift their heads in delight.

Wings spread and my spirit flies out in the rain,
dust of doubts falls down in streams of mud.
Faith’s crystal clear for once again,
back to my empty room I fill it with hope.

Rain creates many moods for me and I guess indirectly it could be hope too. I do love the rain as it falls forit's like a cleansing fluid. Not to mention the romantic vibes it gives off. I enjoyed your write. I want to thank you for entering my "The Angel of Rain" contest.

Very good. I like listening to the rain, the rain feels soft, and rain calms me.

it's good to see the metaphoric resonance in this poem; it has the measure of doing the poet's thing - evoking more with the the language of words than what it is saying.

what i mean by this is that the poem has a level that can be understood ona surface level, and another level for poetic sensibilities, which people who know what poetry can do, can understand. (oh, i'm not sure that i'm making myself clear here...sorry about that.) which means that the reader can interpret the images and soar and dive....

    goodonyamate,

So nice to hear from you, Myron!

I know what you mean. The trouble is I always try to apply the other level in haiku writing too. I hope you're well.

      My best wishes to you,

      Maya
