You turn on the T.V.
And it starts beeping
And black out
You stare out the window
At the ominous black clouds
A warning comes across
The battery operated radio
"Tornado is coming
Go into the basement
For protection"
You stare out the window again
And the light wind becomes a gale
The rain starts falling horizontally
Then the rain turns to hail
As you start running for your basement
You see a spiral shape coming
Out of the sky
It is about 1/2 mile away
Your scared your gonna die
As soon as your in the basement
The tornado hits your house
You hear the roof being ripped apart
And your house being sucked
Off its very foundation
Then all of a sudden
The wind dies down
You come up out of the basement
Into a heavy rain
Where your house used to be
Thankful to God
Your still alive
Author notes
I watch "Storm Stories" on "The Weather Channel" enough to get a clear picture of what damage a tornado causes.

I live in Tennessee and a few weeks ago we were hit with an awful storm. In one night my county alone had about fifteen tornados. MY COUNTY ALONE!!!!!!!! That was one of the scariest things I've ever experienced. We were fine, and none of the tornados were near us, but it sure gave us a scare. This poem is amazing. Deffinately DEFFINATELY can relate to it lol.

Wow. So you got all this just by watching Storm Stories? Great job. I wonder how much greater it would be if you had actually gone through this. I live in Oklahoma, so tornadoes are not uncommon for me. In fact, they are quite mesmerizing to me and I want to be a storm chaser. But anyway, I really like this poem and the fact that you wrote about this subject. Anyway, I'm babbling, so I'll just go. Keep up the great writes.

This sounds so real and shows the fear and destruction during and after a storm. Very well done. Thank you for entering and good luck.

OMG! I'm not the only "loser" who watches Storm Stories! Tornadoes are scray...I was down in Florida when Hurricane Andrew struck in '92 and I saw a couple tornadoes...water spouts mainly...which is just another beautiful disaster of Mother Nature.
