Shadows on the Sea

Out onto the midnight waves I break,
Thinking of the love once by my side,
I wonder what else the good Lord may take,
In this cruel world where death survives,

The music bounces around this empty cabin,
As I cast myself away to distant skies,
Where as if by magic the genie to Aladdin,
Has come forth to wish her upon my eyes,

I stretch my hand to feel her tenderness,
But her soul is no longer of this Earth,
Instead I return here to this solemn emptiness,
Inside this cabin of only memorial worth,

Her tender fingers still cross my skin at night,
I still feel the breath of her undying soul,
But there is no one there to wish goodnight,
And nothing inside me but an empty hole,

As if at one with the waves I hear her heart,
By the light of the moon I see her dancing alone,
But dreams always give way to the impending dark,
Just as flesh always dies before wood or stone,

Powerful imagery in this piece. I liked the part of the person dancing by the light of the moon the best. It made me think of someone mourning someone who has since passed on and seeing their spirit. Keep up the great work.
