[Scientific Ignorance]

Your so-called scientific theories
Make absolutely no sense!
The answer is so obvious
Yet...
You're so ignorant!
Let me learn
What I WANT to learn.
And NOT
What YOU want me to learn.
I can believe
What I want.
Don't teach science
like a religion!
We're ALL sick of it.
Leave me alone!
You're confined
to your little group,
Refusing to hear anything
We have to say.
"This explanation doesn't make any sense," you say.
Neither does yours.
And your so-called scientific theories
Still make absolutely no sense!

Author notes

GRR this is mostly directed to my science teacher, mr. lafond. he teaches evolution like it's a religion. whenever i bring up a point about how it can be proved wrong, he ignores me. it makes me SO MAD!!!! same with global warming.

do you feel this way about it?

Listen,I see that you are a young kid, it is obvious you have grown up on a steady diet of misguided religious dogma and creationism or its uninformed variations, and therefore feel very emotional about this. Science isn't a religion- its about FACTS and EVIDENCE, not BELIEF in things with NO EVIDENCE, which is what religion is.

Its unfortunate your having a negative, emotional reaction to this Mr.Lafond, who might be a bad teacher, but ultimately he's right. EVOLUTION IS EVIDENCE BASED FACT! (and so is global warming, so DEAL WITH IT!) EVOLUTION actually has more evidence backing it up then any other theory in science.

It is as well established as the fact that the earth orbits the sun, that the sun is a big thermonuclear ball of gas, that the stars in the sky are like our sun, and that our cells have DNA. If you don't believe in evolution, you might as well not believe in that either.

There are NO good arguments or points against Evolution- all SCIENTIFIC, FACT BASED attempts to create an alternate theory or critisize if fundamentally have FAILED- and a nearly endless amount of arguments and overwhelming evidence has been gathered that proves it is the only correct model that can explain the complexity of the biological world and the existence of you and I. The evolutionary MODEL is the only one that has explanations that make fundamental sense. EVOLUTION HAS NOT and FUNDAMENTALY WILL NOT BE PROVED WRONG AT ANY TIME IN THE FUTURE!!!

On the other hand, CREATIONISM, INTELLIGENT DESIGN, and all other related faith based mythologies HAVE NO ACCEPTABLE, TESTED, VERIFIED, EVIDENCE TO BACK THEM UP. NONE!!! None of those ideas stand the test of quality. So they are WRONG. They might as well be Egyptian mythology.

If you don't beleive me- GO READ THE FACTS. READ A REAL BOOK ON EVOLUTION!!! Not the propoganda you get at church or where ever commenters below get their ideas. DON'T read a religious book on it- if you want REAL answers, read a REAL book about it, by scientists. THEN your questions might be answered correctly.

I can tell you are a teacher by some of the words upon your page, and you most definitely brought that forth with this very for-your-information packed reply. And of course I agree, because as you said, there really is nothing to not believe for there is more than evidence. I must admit though, what a laugh. =)

        Very perceptive

You certainly guessed my secret identity I suppose I don't keep it well hidden...

And yeah, the unfortunate things that people believe, or in the case above, refuse to accept, are both pitiful and laughable.

I don't completely agree with the ideas in this poem, but everyone is titled to his or her own opinon - which you potrayed very well. I don't have a religon, so basically science is mine, but they shouldn't teach science like it is a religon in school. Grr Mr. Lafond, thats really annoying of him. GGRRR

I know totally what you mean AP lil' sis! Like the live earth concert-cool music and bands-dumb reason for doing it. It was so funny when the NYC mayor at one of the concerts called Conservative TV and radio hosts liars and "flat-earthers." and then they called all corporations evil like a bunch of hippies! They even printed T-shirts saying "America needs Al Gore for 2008" I was shocked! And even then, Gore emits 20x more emissions than the average american because of his mansions and private jets. Even the singers at the event took big private jets to get there. So they're not even supporting their own cause!! You are so right about these dumb scientific theories on evolution and global warming. In the immortal words of socrates: "The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance."

we did it in 6th grade A LOT and mr. Lafond wasn't open to new theories, which REALLY made me mad. we also went to a museum in boston, and in the corner there was this tiny little display about how evolution can be proved wrong.

don't you hate that? its like a packet of ciggarets; there so bad for you and in a teeny tiny small print they state something like "not good for people who have heart problems or for women who are pregnant" or something like that. also, are you in summer right now or is your school a year-round school?
