Where the secrets lie

Do not be blinded

by a thousand artificial lights;

for the one that will show the way,

is the flicker within the depth of your soul;

"la luz de la vida", the light of life,

like a candle ; it will guide you on the path,

the one that is meant for you to walk;

to find "el rio abajo rio" the river beneath the river,

where the secrets lie ; where we will learn to understand

and gain knowledge and wisdom of what is about and around us,

what we must reach for and what we must let die.

Hear it in whispers ; not in the shouts of the crowd,

see it with the eyes of your soul;

Do not be blinded

by a thousand artificial lights.

    This is quite lovely - simple yet profound wisdom stated in a fresh and elegant way

    My only suggestion would be to fix the dashes you've typed as hyphens. i.e. "lie-where", "whispers-not". A dash is separated by spaces: - ; a hyphen forms a compound word.
    Just a peeve of mine as it detracts and distracts from the intended meaning.(I spent hours fixing dashes in hundreds of Emily Dickinson's poems on Old Poetry that had been typed-as-hyphens).

    Meditation and peace are hard to achieve in a technology that pounds on our senses. so true. So gentle and filled with joyous wonder, quiet heat.

    Been a long time I love this. The "river beneath the river" is something that Clarissa Pinkola Estes wrote about in her book "Women who run with the wolves". If you haven't read that, you should. The light inside us is truly what leads us and guides us down the right road. You only have to be quiet and listen...........

    Love this poem. Well done!!!
