Huddled, naked and waiting,
angel of the sea will rise again
Loving too deeply for reality
almost lost her precious sanity
Bitter times and times of tears,
he crushed her with her fears
Never good enough to shine,
yet he always declared her “Mine!”
Drooping wings weighted with abuse,
“I’m sorry. . .” his monotonous excuse.
One day a mighty wind of reality
swept Angel away and set her free
Now when she rises from her tomb
she will soar away, at last, from doom
Other shores await her with open arms,
not an abusive man with all his charms.
Fly high, pretty angel to a better place;
in time you will heal and forget his face
Author notes
Do not wait for him to "change" - he really never
will - go and survive

Wow, this is really good anfd so true to the quote. You can't change people that don't want to change. Good luck to you in the contest.

Spectacular message you have penned. Love this poetic message you have sent out there.
Beautiful words.

Excellent piece, very well-written. And what you wrote in your author's notes is true--people don't change unless they REALLY want to. Abusive men (or women) generally stay abusive.
