When people say
Tell us about yourself,
I always come up blank.
How can you sum up life
into a paragraph of words.

Do you pick out all the big events?
My name is Olivia Seyers,
I was born in 1985,
went to school for a while,
and now I’ve started working.

I’m too young
I haven’t lived long enough
to have stories like
my counterparts have.
What would I ay when I reach that age?

I guess I’d start with the basics,
My name is Olivia Seyers,
I have a husband,
three children, grown up,
and two dogs…

And so on and so on
and questions would lead from that.
But answer me this,
when people ask you to,
Tell us about yourself,

Would you tell strangers the truth?
Or would you hide behind the words?
Would you tell stories of another’s life?
Would you feel to scared to tell them
of your mundane life?

Would you think it’s unadventurous for them?
Or maybe you would say…
it’s not enough for you.
