Circumspection

He said
you must not touch such a woman
not even with the most gossamer tentacles
of your Quixotic imagination.
As if meeting with
the White Buffalo Calf woman
in her human form,
or a Vestal Virgin of the Inca
you may wish to avert your eyes,
lest you be tempted
to touch 'her perfect body with your mind.'
Walk on, walk softly,
walk with care.

ooh Leonard Cohen You like him too? I've listened to his records nearly all of my life, real comfort music to me. I love your knowledge of mythology, i read any one of your poems and i find something new, something i must research, a story to wrap up in. the repetition of 'touch' is used to good emphasis, i feel like reaching out too, very denial-tactile...
    much love,
    fay
