Transcending Truth

TRANSCENDING TRUTH

Shakespearean Sonnet

Although mankind still lies in evil's lap;

yet hope exists that breathes upon us all,

and though such sinful ways our lives do sap;

our spirits God's salvation shall recall.

Forgiveness flies to those who will receive

our God, who came to us in human form,

if each one will but pause and just believe:

His death and rising mankind shall transform.

For steeped in sin, all were devoured at birth,

and all our mothers' painfully travailed.

Forefathers cursed sin upon this earth;

death's wage upon each newborn babe exhaled.

God's healing spirit on our souls descends,

thus born again, our mortal mind transcends.
