My, oh my have I mistake upon mistake
Dangling round’ my mind
Like clouds held above the lake
God’s grace be with me
When everything is blurred,
Everything is faded and gray
For my actions speak louder than words
When the butterflies in my tummy won’t fly away
My, oh my have I lost many diamonds
While I was too busy collecting stones
Why, oh why was I such a halfhearted girl
There up on my thrown?
I desired the bootleggers and scalawags
While the good ones slipped away
Regret is the price I pay
For being nonchalant
My, oh my I miss those sweet smiles,
The evanescent dimples that only I,
Can catch with my eyes
Why, oh why were they shadows in the wind at first rendezvous,
Yet thereafter blossom into such provocative beaus?
So many faltering questions,
To the lyrics of my cluttered life
It’s so easy to fall in love
With the wrong guy
My, oh my does reality ever hurt,
To see him
Replace me with her
Why, oh why is he her cat’s pajamas,
While him and I fall asunder?
My vindication lies somewhere amidst the clouds;
Or maybe it’s just Metamorphosis
Author notes
The line "My, oh my have I lost many diamonds
While I was too busy collecting stones" I should mention comes from a quote said by Mother Teresa: " If you judge people, you have no time to love them. Never take some one for granted. Hold every person close to your heart because you might wake up one day and realize that you have lost a diamond while you were too busy collecting stones.”
That is my favourite life quote, and is so very true. Mother Teresa's quote inspired me to write this poem, along with my personal feelings, emotions, and thoughts right now about my past mistakes. I have lost a lot of genuine guys while I was too busy focusing on the bad apples.
I didn't want to use her quote in my own words, and not give credit for it, since that is where I got the idea from (in case anyone was wondering).

Wow. I'm so glad Mother Teresa inspired you because she is one of the people that inspires me. I also loved how you incorporated one of her quotes into the poem. Fantastic job.
