"The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost
“Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood”
***********************************************
If you could now gaze, where once you stood,
You'd see how two roads succumbed to growth.
Too many choices can not be good
And often as not, misunderstood!
God bless the child who follows your ghost,
They have to pick one ~ do it with care,
Still led by some to fortune and fame
While their spirits remain unaware ~
Their future’s a world of disrepair
Sadly their world's an heir to that claim.
Though they would choose to go far away,
Back to those days before the attack.
They know there’s a price and hell to pay
And the road they choose must pave that way.
By voting for peace ~ not paying back!
“I should be telling this with a sigh,
Somewhere ages and ages hence,”
Lessons learned by an eye for an eye
Will not be the way they choose to die,
And that will make all the difference ...

Author notes
* I chose this poem because it made me start thinking of how young people today are facing so many different circumstances and yet when it comes right down to it they will only be able to walk one road! Enjoy!

When I joined AP, Robert Frost was the only poet I was even remotely aware of and "The Road Not Taken" was my favorite poem. I do believe you've done his work justice. Best of luck in the contest.
Sincerely,
Leo Long

L'embarras du choix, is 'two' much choice, choice, when jobbing backwards mirrors what one feels has been missed and not what might have occured for better or for worse ... would mankind per sapiens have evolved if returning to square one was retained as an open option ? -
I haven't read the original poem, but I love your version of it ... very inspiring and thoughtful ...
