Gently Scathed

Gently Scathed

On this bed of gentle grass
I lay my head
completely given,
freely loving,
unflinching from morning sun.

The beauty of the day
has begun,
and I will soon go away
back to the Heavens
from which I came
during the late night hours.

Lie with me
as we fade away
together
on the sunbeam
that scorches us
as it rises
leaving behind only
the memory of us.

I loved how you almost created a love poem being given a dewdrop. The last stanza was bittersweet yet ever so romantic[like lovers that remember times of old
    Best wishes in the contest,

I suppose it is better to have been a drip and dried than never to have dripped at all. Good luck in the contest.

    Sincerely,

To surrender so easily to going back to the other side, is a blessing. Your little poem shows us this is how it is for all creation. The is no beginning and no end, only cycles of life.

See what you inspired in my response.

    nicely written.
    Buddy
