Mother

Mother, Mother where have you gone?
From where I saw you on the lawn.
You seemed so happy and innocent and free,

So mother where could you be?

I look around and find the note.
"Do not be scared" is what she wrote.
she also said to call my father.
I'm not dumb so I didn't bother.

I ran outside to check and see
If this was really happening to me.
And no lie it was there she lay,
Lying peacefully was she Ok?

I run to her side and touch her arm.
It was cold and i was alarmed!
I ran to a neighbor and began to cry.
"Mother! Mother! She has died!"

My brothers and father held me close,
For I knew mother better than most.
Now I'm alone and this is no lie,
I want to go off, go off and go die...
