Does Beauty Come in My Size?

I see all the models on TV
Seeing all that some girls yearn to be

They're all skinny and look like twigs
Making some of us feel like pigs

Does beauty even come in my size?
Or will I never feel that suprise

Just because I'm not itty-bitty
Doesnt mean that I'm not pretty

So Im not so skinny but that doesnt mean that Im a freak
Just a little bit different, special, unique

You may hate me but I dont hate you
Why dont you try a day in my shoes

People mock me
They humiliate me but I guarantee

Most of them dont care
They dont know what it feels like to be compared

To be exiled out from everyone
Yet nothings been done

To feel lonely and hurt
To be thrown out and kicked on the dirt

Does anyone even hear my cries
Does beauty even come in my size?

Author notes

I just dont get it people exile others out because they are a little bit bigger! This poem kinda sucks but I just dont get it and I just wanted to get it off my chest!

Beauty comes in every size. What I DON'T think is beautiful is runway models in their size 0 fashions. Honestly, I know they try to find the skinniest models available, but all of those girls could do to put on a little weight, even if it's only muscle. I like to design my own clothes too, but you need hips to wear half the things I like to make!

Curves are gorgeous. Don't let anyone else convince you otherwise.

    Hear, hear!

Wow, I love this poem! I, for one, am not supermodel-thin, but I'm not overweight either. I'm a perfectly respectable size 9/10 [or 11/12, depending on the pants, only a 7/8 for a skirt], though most people are superficial and shallow, and I end up wondering, 'does beauty come in my size?', which is a crying shame. I've seen a lot of bigger women, some even twice, three times my size, who are absolutely gorgeous, but they believe that they can't be beautiful because they're not twigs. Likewise, I have seen some skinny girls who are ugly as hell, who think that they ARE beautiful, just because they're thin.

I was a dancer for 8 years, and I suffered from a mild eating disorder, due to the fact that there was just so much pressure to be so disgustingly thin. It didn't help that my dance teacher was a skinny little thing whose had ribs where there should have been cleavage! Ugh! Unfortunately, most women concentrate on what their bodies look like, rather than what they can do. It's a sad world!

It's a little iffy technically, but I love the message. We normal-sized women should be able to feel just as proud of our bodies as the next anorexic model-type, without 'thin is in' being shoved down society's collective throat. Beauty is only skin-deep! Well done!

i like this alot. it doesnt suck. i has real feeling and real emotion in it. it has truth that the rest of us are living with every day. for whatever your flavor among the human race, there are those who would mock you for that, and having been on the reciving end of that quite a bit myself, i am truly sorry, and i hope that it gets better for you, because in time, youll find those people who bring out your own feelings of beauty. cherish those people, but dont discount those that are cruel, becuase they will keep you from becoming like them.

I bet you are very beautiful just the way you are.
Beauty really does come in every size.
Remember no one is perfect, and even the itty bitty may not be all they seem to be.
Stay your self your and love your self for the amazing person that you are.

I had a contest recently that you should have entered this into called, Real Women Have Curves. I am very proud of my body because I have my curves and I love em. Everyone should embrace who they are and what they look like because as long as you are healthy and you are a good person... those bastards who think less of you aren't really worth your time anyways.... by the way, the poem doesn't suck at all. It's well written and has a powerful message.

    You are BEAUTIFUL

This poem is precious - it rhymes and reads well - love the scolding bounce to it - but the message is so true - and all I can say is I read all the comments on this poem and I have to say AMEN - Bless God - God loves you too - Joe - hugs

aww, great topic and awsome to see you had the courage to write about it in a way where you dont feel victimized by the MAJORITY of the media's & our culture's view on what beauty is, although it does show it affects you I can see your strength and optimism through this poem. It's creative I like it!

    Beautiful!

Of course, the answer is obviously yes, beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. People seem to hate me too, but it's because I'm so skinny, so I guess it goes both ways. It isn't fair to judge someone on size, or even on looks. If your a good person, then your inner beauty will shine out and people will notice you. It may not happen with who you want it to, and you may not be as popular as some of the other girls who give out 'favors', but it's well worth it to be taken as is.

dont worry beauty comes in all sizes, i used to be anorexic was not a good look. people who want to look like those models should take a look inside. i bet youve got more beauty in your little pinkie than they have all over!!

So glad I read your poem...I feel your pain and hurt..Well I know how you feel, I just can't understand the ostracism! I am not Miss Barbie Doll either. I pray that inner hurt and treatment will go...Can you wear a smile, even tho it is painful to do so...They will look at that smile, and it will detract from how you feel about yourself, and it will them too..Just an idea..even tho it hurts..I love the person inside...not the person outside but some just got things all twisted around.

you know, if people are mean to you cuz ur not exactly what they want the fuck them.. nobodies perfect and their no exception. im tiny and i wish that i was one of the girls with meat on my bones and curvy, trust me, the grass ALLWAYS looks greener on the other side.. please do me a favor and dont even listen to those people. just be yourself, i think people are beautiful when you can see there real personalty shining thur, unlike the clones of wanna be holister modles walking around today.

i love your poem there are way too many fake people out there. Especially guy who love those fake girls make me so mad. Guys Have great relationships with one girl, they make the girl all kinds of promises and than they go and leave her for another girl, they get sucked into the evil realms of seduction! Is there any good guys out there ? I love this poem

what you hear is only half

The attenion they get on their turf you don't want to hear if you you are pretty you don't have to be smart is only one of millions/ Look around Many with the pretty little number , have the real wife or first wife stashed else where you have what 's inside you that every one wants truth, inter beauty ,smart enough to know right way to act, talk, true gift of love don't sell your self too short. Someone will find you and know they have the best gift but remember you have to love yourself befor you can love another. Love inside invites others to love you, and for your~self.

Was actually reading through this poem posted on your contest page and i thought "Wow, it touched me." So i was like wondering where was this from.......

Okay great i have found it over here, so yep, i would leave you some comments. (=

It rhymes and it doesnt sound cliched, so good job with that. I like how you use the line "Does beauty even come in my size" to good effect (=. It sounds the heart of a "fat" person, and it makes the reader wonder, or perhaps rework their perspective on a "fat" person.

I have no real answer to your question though, but i will leave you with some thoughts.

I believe that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Although, there can be generalized stereotypes if you look at the society at large.

People wished to be loved as they are, but does it make "fitting in (slimming down)" a wrong course of action

i understand you! people can treat others like crap and it's just like they don't see the hurt they cause. once someone called my friend an elephant just because she wasn't skinny. i still remember her tears and how the whole class was mad at this one person for calling her that in front of everyone. people shouldn't lower others. we are who we are. maybe not perfect but at least not fake or trying to be just like them to fit in. you out did yourself with this poem!
