The Forsaken

Missing image
Perusing ancient memories
Yellowed with age and time.
You loved me once, but now
You don't even remember my name.

Then again, I don't suppose
You care enough to remember.
For I have been gone many years
But you forgot me long ago.

I am but a dream, lost forever
In the pages of your mind.
Forgotten, insignificant
And I know that you don't care.

You are always in my dreams
Raping me, with your evil eyes.
Yet I wake, screaming, without you
For I am not worth the sacrifice.

So if I bleed, then let me bleed
Pretend that you don't care anymore
Just leave me alone, forsaken and lost
Because I am no longer missing you.

"Dark and darker..."

There is a great sense of depth and darkness woven within. A pained piece of angst and well expressed emotion. Nice write!!

This is actually really, really beautifully written, very evocative. It carries undertones of and, perhaps, derives from Missing, by Evanescence. "You don't care" "You forgot me long ago" are direct quotes, and "So if I bleed, then let me bleed" is very similar to ,"And if bleed, I'll bleed knowing..."

You even use the word missing.

A lovely work. Very, very well done

Wow... this is great and how people of the past sometimes arrive in our dreams.. it just might be a way of letting them go. I have had a similar experience and its helped a lot to just let them go. Thank you for posting this poem for us to read

So much depth and anguish in your words...sometime in life the ones that are hardest to forget and let go of are the ones we hate the most...love/hate, fine line.
    Beautiful and sincere.
    Always a pleasure.
    Best!

    Loved the opening lines

I guess what you refer to as dark I see as sadness magnified in the mind. It has a great flow.

DAMN that was good!!!! Very Evanescence-esque!! I LOVE them... even wrote some lyrics called Broken that I could imagine her singing! Anywho... this was brilliant... I'm really impressed! I'm totally reading more of you missy!!!!

I'm an old timer but I actually like Evanescence, sorry, was your author note,

Some people are hard to forget, probably because they are despised as much as they were once loved. Those we did once love always have the ability to hurt us the most I guess.

Ah, I have been there a time or two, but nevermore (I hope.)

I am so glad that this was inspired by a song and not by your own personal tragedy... for it is a constant reality for a lot of people and though this was full of angst and was dark, you made a positive ending out of it and that is wonderful. Best Wishes in this contest, wonderful poetry you have and thank you so much for commenting on mine!

I like your use of imagery to evoke emotion. There is a definite feeling of loss and seperation here. It's almost a forlorn feeling really. To be forgotten by someone who once love you is so heartbreakingly sad.
