Fully aware the curve of my neck
Aches for the arousing feel
Of your painfully soft breath
Recalling how it caused pleasant goosebumps
And ticklish shivers down my spine.
I lie knowing my lonely and exposed back
Longs for the protection and comfort
Of your warm body pressed against it.
Rebellious strands of hair fall onto my cheek
Hoping you will gently slide them back where they belong.
Restless fingers flex and wander aimlessly
Wishing to find home within
Your open palm, your dark hair, your familiar face.
My mind returns to its favorite memories, craving more
Yet realizing that there will be no more.
Lips part, wanting the tingling desire
And the wet heat of your tongue.
Mouth remains silent yearning to whisper your name
Or release a pure, effortless laugh
Not inhibited by the haunting past.
Eyes retrace this room for millionth time
Still seeking the image of you
Though the photographs were removed from the walls long ago.
My head needs the pillow of your strong chest
Rocking it to sleep with the rhythm of your breathing.
My heart searches to feel fulfilled again,
To be connected to yours.
It appears they all have forgotten
How my eyes widened in fear when you
Gripped my unexpecting wrists in your barely-controlled rage
That your features could contort into intense anger
How your bitter words would crash into my ears
And my stomach turned and churned to no end
With the tension from our arguments
Or how my grudges against you would cause
Bruises that could not be seen externally.
I lie here remembering all the terrible and wonderful times
Our victories and our tribulations
And how this battle had ended.
I lie on this seemingly empty bed
Awake hours after the night has conquered the day
Thinking of how when slumber does overtake me
You will continue to reside as an unstoppable phantom
In the corner of my dreams.
I lay feeling the heavy weight of Love in my chest
Hating the fact that I still miss you.

This is a poem most or all of us can relate to in one way or another and at least once probably more in our lives. Its quite clear why its such a winning poem.

its a good write, but long much?? thats the only problem.. so besides that, wow.. it really does reflect on my immortal (love the friggin song) and it is beautiful over all.. this is deep and thought provoken and how you were able to write about a some one getting hurt like that is amazing.. even though it was long, i was hooked all the way through which is a big compliment because i have a really short attention span unless its something worth paying attention to, and this was definatly worth it.. thank you for entering in my contest and best of luck with all the other contests i have seen that you entered.. great write.

This is very intense, the beginning is so wonderful and beautiful, like the passion of a relationship that you might envy.
The turn of events I'm afraid is all too common. It's amazing how strong the love remains and how intense the missing and longing can be. You've done a wonderful job expressing this story, very detailed and vivid in all aspects.
Best of luck!

3 Soft Tears
Accompanied with the song that you chose, I couldn't believe how hard my heart strings tugged. My average of sleep has is from 4-5 hours, because I lie in bed, and it as if this poem is a story of each and every night. This is a wonderful write, it matches my criteria perfectly. Thank you for entering and good luck!!
With Love & Thanks,
