Living the memories of hellish lies
you surrounded me with false sense of devotion
in belief that your words were uttered in truth
yet all the while my role was the jester.
Your puppet pulled on strings to dominate
a slave to what I saw as your love
yet deep within those eyes so black
I was blinded to the ugly soul.
Cleverly hidden with humour and joy
not recognising the treacherous facade
I fell deeper within your simulated spell
when deep from within my own soul began to wither.
In thoughts of delusion I gave in faith
that you were honest with genuine feelings
but finally I heard and saw the corruption
as your fiendish laughter still haunts this mind
A monster from hell in physical form
in facade of spirit pure and whole
my soul won't sleep as that demonic laugh intrudes
will I ever be free to be at peace once more?

I can so relate. I was married to the Devil himself for 23 years and endured abuse the whole time. What a wonderful write so full of emotion and imagery. Excellent in every way
