Is religion a blessing?

Or is it a curse !

Is it good for wellbeing?

Or does it make matters worse

 

Is God really in favor . .

Or is He in truth . . annoyed

At the way clerics mislead us

And His message deployed

 

The world is in turmoil

As brother fights brother . .

Instead of counting our blessing

We berate one another

 

So is religion a blessing?

Or is it making matters worse

With supposedly God on the one side

And Allah on the reverse

 

Would Muhammad approve?

Would Jesus give us his blessing?

As we stray further  from Abraham

And the way we’re digressing

 

Would Buddha be depressed?

By the way humanity is going

Would Krishna lose his composure

At the discord man’s sowing 

 

When you go back to basics

All the prophets agree . .

We should join hands together

And that love is the key

 

Why is hatred and discord

The thing we are voicing today

Why are we all fighting each other

Surely that’s not God’s way

 

Is religion really a blessing

Or is it a blight and a curse

Should we follow spun scriptures

If they make matters . .

    The process of growth this world is in is clearly directed by Intelligence, otherwise it would not be developing, but would be chaos. The elaborate forms and balances here evidence purpose in the direction of "the arrow of time."

    Very good...only thing I would change is in the final line of Stanza 7... I would remove the word that...just my personal feeling but I think it might slightly improve the timing... you are far more experience than I so I leave it to you...

    However...I must say I agree with this piece entirely.. no matter which religion you look at the current course of human-kind is wrong... even if you denounce all religion and go by moral standards nothing is right with the way we are going now...

    Thanks for this wonderful piece...I can only hope that some of our leaders, who shall remain nameless, are reading this work and take it for its message.

    Hi;)

    Man corrupt mind is the curse. Some established religious sects not serve HIM but to serve their pockets from the donations of their followers. Serving HIM is not about this too much religion it is about Love and on how we can be delight on HIS eyes.
    I love your last line it is very interesting and a good message for all.
