The New Horizon (Nature's Journeys Part 1)

I stand upon the brink of dawn,
and stare out at the open sea.
The blades of grass my feet are on,
gently whisper, tickling me.

A new horizon comes to view,
as rays of light flee to the sky.
Yellows, oranges amid the blue,
blend together to my eye.

Cast upon the ocean swell,
reflections of the fiery sphere.
As if to darkness does rebel,
like light does also do to fear.

Where reflection meets the sky,
lies the prize I dearly seek.
To the sea I say goodbye,
and turn to face the darkening peak.

There upon its rocky base,
lies my journey's immediate goal.
Towards its bedrock now I race,
Before the mountain takes its toll.

Please tell me what you think

How can i not like this?

Journeys...welcome to the site. Your first effort (which I do not believe is your first effort) is my kinda read. I love writing but love reading, too. Makes it soooooo much more interesting to find the author's feelings and whether they match your own as you read. For instance, within two lines of reading this one out loud to myself ... I was you (or, pretending to be). You have some stuff going on in this piece ... and, me thinks, in you, too. If ya ever want to talk bout it ... just have at it. In the meantime ...

    Her eyes affixed upon
A place where most would not stare
    Seems she's almost gone
But, she needs to heed ... that I care
