The Witching Hour

Written By Lisa Morris

From the decaying stomach of darkness
From which that I now dwell
To the demons that arise before you
Deep inside we know so well

We stand alone in silence
Our footsteps on the shore
We await our day of reckoning
And knock at Hell's heart door

As I step across a silent grave
The raven mocks my every step
And speaks of spirits long ago
Are those that must be kept

Come out here all you people
Come out from underground
Can you see the spirits soar
They are flying all around

They move through your fragile mind
They know just what you fear
They move through your soul again
To let you know they're here

Now come forth and arise
Come out from your shallow grave
The life force you take from others
Is that in which you crave

From midnight till one
That is the witching hour
Witches and werewolves, and vampires
And all things of dark power

Very eerie indeed... great use of rhyme here to make the tone almost sound like a witches chant, maybe not intentional but it works well in this piece, nicely done.

Witches do not need just the witchin hour
for they walk the earth today.
The spirits and ghosts most fear at night
are a wonderous sight for one like me.
To stand at Hells door, I am sorry to say,
is a pleasure I have seen.

Death can not claim, what has already been dead,
look in the mirror, search your soul,
then read your poem and see,
all the wonders you have painted here.

I love this poem, midnight and witches and so forth. Very interesting to read. I've been working on a poem for a while about witches but haven't been able to finish it. Goodluck in the contest.
