A single drop
catches a reflection.
Rainbow colors
swirled throughout.
Slowly it falls,
stretching towards its end.
A wealth of promise
carried in its weight.
Its beauty tempting,
enticing thoughts
of perfection.
Shimmering silver,
it hovers for a moment,
stopping time.
Until, Inevitably…
it breaks free,
gaining momentum
as it tumbles.
Guided by gravity,
opposed by air.
Its changing shape,
a testament
to this paradox.
Eventually,
It lands…
Spreading into
a thousand drops.
Its truth finally revealed,
as it eats through
armor meant to shield.
Beauty unmasked.
Methodically it begins
to infect your heart…
Fulfilling its true agenda,
to poison your life…
Thus is the destiny
of my soul’s venom…

That's a very unexpected ending. It threw me when I read:
'Its truth finally revealed,
as it eats through
armor meant to shield.'
But then the rest of the poem explains itself. This is highly imaginitive and the metaphor is superb!
Thanks for entering
