A year: One year of hours spent in eachothers arms
yet it seems like a lifetime ago that your Jack Sparrow grin
and quiet way changed my world.
(I guess opposites really do attract)
Soul meets soul on lovers’ lips
and your arms about my waist
keep me safe and dry in this world of razors and raindrops.
There is no place I'd rather be than here
on a deflating air mattress in the back of your truck
talking about our hopes and dreams beneath the stars.
Feeling my skin bristle and burn
as your fingers trace the outline of my face
and I fall asleep as you whisper sweet nothings in my ear.
I've found my happily ever after
and the pieces of me shattered long ago, begin to mend
with every kiss
every caress
every probing glance over the glow of a Canada Day bonfire.
I have fallen in love with the simple things in life
(little things you do)
Finally I have stopped waiting for the bottom to drop out:
Lover, I have found my other half in you...
May one year become a lifetime of sunsets, underwater kisses, and handholds in a crowd
as the "I do" daydreams play with every beat of my heart.
