Emptiness' Company

To explain it,
I must pause a moment.

But to put it simply, I'd say:
Being stranded alone with my thoughts,
And knowing every tomorrow's the same -

Because piling decades start to
Become convincingly invariable,
And it’s been shattering me whole.

But to put it more personally,
I’d say:

Birth was emptiness,
As soon as they let them take us home.

Secrets were emptiness,
When the lies went undetected and they left us there.

Years have been emptiness,
When all we were left with is a diseased mind.

Memories are emptiness,
As constance and tenacity accompany a long life.

But to put it simply, I'd say:
Being stranded alone with my thoughts,
And knowing every tomorrow's the same -

Because piling decades start to
Become convincingly unchangeable,
And if it must be, emptiness now,
Is only that I can’t stop living.

on emptiness... inspired by ardentMarch's contest (What is your emptiness?) ... the title sent me thinking, and these words came to me... a writing exercise...

I can relate to this piece, as I think many will for we all experience emptiness to higher and lesser degrees so will be able to settle with one of the sighs. Alone with thoughts, knowing every tomorrow to be the same, the way of the world, sadly, it is up to us to make the changes though the changes are difficult to make when one becomes accustomed to the every day mud slides in the spirit. A good poem.
