dancing now in silent wonder
memories prevail
praying not to make a blunder
spinning without fail
into the past
my mind has wandered
it’s a pity it could not last
oh the beauty I have squandered
the loves I threw away
gentleness that I lost
I remember with dismay
in death’s bed I pay the cost
regret for days
that I just cast away
I wander through this maze
how was I led astray
lost in thought
for all time to come
my life has been for naught
down to this tidy sum
