and set it on fire with
a thousand good intentions
spitting each shared smile
back at me
with bedtime lies
and alibis
of seedy hollow promises
of forever

and sealed it with frozen tears
where each rainy day melody
whispers
that a love like the movies
isn't love
but merely a chaotic nightmare
where there is beauty in the breaking of wills
in the deterioration of determination
today, I made you a mixed tape
so open and exposed
I laid my heart on the line
for a kerosene romance
a once upon a time
no regrets
needle in the eyes romance
that left me bleeding
lifeless
as the man I knew faded into the sunset
But
where's that girl behind the clouds?
that girl so eager to love?
...on that mixed tape
trapped in the cycle
of never ending charades
and devastating fantasies...

This was definitely one of my favourites on here. Excellently written. I like the choice for the title too. It's a take from the ataris song "Song for a mix tape" Ahem...
Today I made you a mix tape
And I decorated it with lots of stars
It had all my favourite songs
There was Jawbreaker and Mineral
Built to Spill and The Descendents
Hell, I even put one of ours on it
D'you wanna be my girl? Cause you really rock my world
And you always make me smile
But what will you do when I'm washed up like Motley Crue
Will you still love me when I sell out?
