A Prayer for Our Nation

Lord, I thank you for this land
For the blessings you bestow
You uphold it by your hand
Though it often grieves you so

Our freedom we owe to you
‘Twas not by our mortal might
Tyranny we overthrew
Only by your heavenly might

Lord I pray you have mercy
On this land that needs you so
When our eye refuse to see
When our God we will not know

Bring us back again to you
Holy Spirit, Father, Son
Teach us once more to be true
To God who makes this nation, one

"When our eye refuse to see" -- should be "eyes." It's a very sincere poem, so kudos for that. It's a little off in terms of metre, but it's really admirable that you defend your country and your beliefs.

Very true! Our nation has fallen so far from God, we have forgotton that it was God who gave us this land!
