“Who are you?”
The application asks,
“Tell us in 500 words.”
Putting pen to paper, I thought,
How impossible!, and How absurd!
For what do I write?
About crisp autumn nights
Playing music in parking lots?
About friends I have spurned
And the rubber I’ve burned
And the efforts that have been for naught?
Shall I write an ode
To pink hair and commodes
Covered in green hand-made threads?
Would they like if I raged
About my stage
And how, at seventeen,
I have never been kissed
And never once wished for
That which I’ve missed?
But then how do I showcase
The Me that is smart?
I’m not 500 words,
I’m a piece of art!
There’s a picture of me,
Fat, pink-haired, and cute
Giggling my head off
In a raincoat and boots
And I decide that Who I Am
Is Content.
(In the envelope is simply
Half the picture
I have rent.)

Priceless!
This is very good my friend!
Shall I write an ode
To pink hair and commodes
Covered in green hand-made threads?
Would they like if I raged
About my stage
And how, at seventeen,
I have never been kissed
And never once wished for
That which I’ve missed?
Love it!
