What the Mute Men Say

A thousand sleeping pixies fly
Across the greenest hazy sky
That waited for the cold July
To open up its mouth and cry

All the creatures beneath the trees
Waving their nets to catch the breeze
Listen to what the prophet sees
But only open eyes to sneeze

And soon the world will rot away
Or that is what the mute men say
To all that come and cannot stay
To hear about their yesterday

I watch this ever stranger show
With open mind and eyes aglow
But still I stare and do not know
From where it came and still will go

Author notes

I was inspired to write this by Nine Cats, a song by Porcupine Tree.
