Born by the lion's head
Under the golden sun
Strong and proud I stand
Alone in groups of one
I'll soak the brightest rays
Tickled fancy as I turn
And face the glowing embers
Of the universal burn
When light begins to fade
A bow, I swiftly take
In gentle sleep for the night
Till morning's sunlight break
A center of attention
Yet to myself, I keep
Find me big and yellow
Russet brown or red hues deep
A provider of essentials
Adding taste or make a treat
My oil is very light,
My seeds, so good to eat
The petals that I wear
Like the lion's mane
Around my smiling face
The presence of a frame
Born under the leo's head
Towards the skies, I tower
From Summer till early Autumn
Find me, a beautiful sunflower
Author notes
Born a leo, I find the sunflower fitting a choice of plant. Their range of deep hues and contrasting colors is remarkably beautiful. And to watch their transformation during a single day is completely amazing.

To know oneself!
Fitting indeed. You have chosen to be the sunflower and it shall be so.
To stare adoringly at the sun and to reflect it's image on your countenance. Your devotion to the sun as you "face the glowing embers" speaks of your loyalty, warmth and of happiness. Self sufficient, confident, not given to vanity, useful, giving of yourself.
You have done well poet, in your verse, presentation and thought. I wish you well in your new life. Jadon
